Great newborn cloth diaper choice, but with some drawbacks
By morebikesplease
I've been using these on my 7 lb newborn for a week now and here are my observations:
Pros:
- soft
- they fit my skinny baby well
- easy on and off for quick diaper changes
- easy to clean (they've had poop and cord blood on them and both have come out in the wash)
Cons:
- when used with the gDiapers cloth inserts they seem to leak out the back if the baby has been laying on her back. I'm pretty sure this is due to the velcro patch being sewn onto the diaper by having the thread go through the waterproof liner. It seems gDiapers should have thought of this as the tiny holes the thread makes renders the product technically NOT waterproof. When using the biodegradable inserts we have not had this problem.
- the snaps in front are meant to keep the diaper away from the umbilical cord, but on my baby, they don't really do this, but it doesn't seem to be a big problem.
All in all, I haven't found a better newborn diaper, especially one that works with the next size up (small little g Pants) for inserts. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

Love these covers with my home made inserts for 7# Newborn!
By Mama Lady
I thought I would hate velcro in the back on a new born which is the only con I have for this cover. My son was three weeks early and 7lbs. These covers fit the best out of all the newborn brand cloth diapers I have. They fit below the cord and around his thick thighs. Other brands leave red marks around his thigh or they are too tall even with a snap down for his cord. I made my own inserts for these covers out of hemp cotton jersey knit layers around two layers of microfiber towel. I am able to double the inserts at night and go over 8hours without a change. I have 12 covers and 20 inserts. My son is 5 days old and I have to clean his diapers every day and a half... Only adding covers to the wash if they got poo on them. Otherwise wipe them out with kissaluvs spray and cloth wipe. I look forward to using more of my cloth diaper stash (so that I can do diaper laundry every other day) on him once his cord falls off but for now these work awesome for us. I also love that they are not as bulky as other diapers. With my first two babies I used infant prefolds with covers and they were very bulky on a newborn!!
Updating: These only worked for my newborn for the first two weeks. Then they leaked out the back where the velcro is sewn on as the other reviewers noted. He outgrew them quickly, but I would not have been able to cloth diaper those first couple of weeks without them. I have already passed them down to my sis in law in hopes they will serve another baby for at least a couple of weeks! Another plus is that the velcro is very strong so if you velcro the tabs before you put them in the laundry they actually stay in place. Other brands I have used come off and daisy chain to other laundry.

Very happy with these!
By kevinsmama
My son is two weeks old and we have been using tiny gDiapers almost exclusively. They were a very economical choice for us, I have 10 pairs of tiny gPants and have mainly been using gFlappers (an "aftermarket" cloth insert) and it has worked great.
Pros:
-Love the fit! My son was 6lbs at birth and these have fit him perfectly from day one!
-They are very economical. I have 20 cloth inserts and 10 tiny gPants and do diaper laundry every 1-2 days.
-The flushable liners are great for eliminating diaper garbage.
-The cloth exterior of the gPants washes great! Cord blood stains came right out with one wash.
-The "shells" are reusable and do not have to be washed every time.
-So easy to use! Great for daddies and in-laws. My husband says he couldn't imagine diapering with disposables being any easier (and he helps with laundry).
Cons:
-The nylon liner stains around the leg openings when it comes in contact with poopies. Once washed, light stains are still present.
I anticipate my son will be able to wear these for another 6-8 weeks. So far we have not had any problems with quality and they have been through the wash approximately 10-12 times. The velcro seems that it will hold up until he outgrows these diapers.
